Hollywood Lutheran Church welcomes LGBT to participate fully in our spiritual community, including the solemnizing of your relationship and commitment in our church.  And beginning in June 2008 we will be able to officiate in a legal capacity to sign your marriage license!

In 2002, the Council of this church adopted a policy to permit lesbian and gay couples to hold weddings or "holy unions" in the sanctuary.  We do this believing that where there is love, there is God.  And that God so loves this world that God blesses those who unite their spirits in love.

We have a variety of ceremonial forms and patterns for putting together a same-sex wedding, including vows, prayers and songs written specifically with same-sex couples in mind.

We also offer counsel and planning services, customized certificates and other information for your wedding day.

You are entitled to respect, dignity and joy on your special day.  We hope that our service to the community will contribute to your joy in getting married! 

Same-sex couples of all ages are also trying to secure their legal rights to protect one another and their families. 

California has the most beneficial Domestic Partnership law in the nation, and is quickly moving toward legal marriage.  But even while this struggle for full rights is going on, same-sex couples are also entitled to cement and celebrate their relationships among friends, with family and before God.  Hollywood Lutheran Church is committed to helping in any way we can.

 If you are planning to get legally married, we also encourage you to be an "activist", since conservative groups are trying to put a proposed Constitutional Amendment on the November 2008 ballto which would take away the rights that the Supreme Court has just granted.
