Okay, planning a great celebration often comes down to money.    There are many things on which you can save, and there are places to be extravagant.  But since most of us don't get married every day we don't have a lot of experience in budgeting and shopping for the many components of a successful wedding day.

The key word is Budget.  If you're not used to making, and sticking to, a budget for your month-to-month expenses, this may seem unpleasant or boring.  Trust us:   making a Budget for this one-time event (a "non-recurring expense") will serve you well and be worth your time.

A Budget has two parts:  the Income side and the Expense side.  As you build your list of the expenses you will face to have a church wedding, try to put together an estimate of where the money will be coming from:  savings, regular paychecks, credit cards, gift from parents, etc.

The availability of money for a great wedding may also affect how soon your wedding should be scheduled.  Do you need to save for another 6 months or a year?  Will you have overtime, a bonus check or an investment dividend available at a certain point?  Be realistic, and do your income planning, expense planning, and timeline planning together!
